Doctoral Consortium

Submission Process


The language of the consortium is English. All submitted materials must be in English. Attendees must have sufficient proficiency in English to allow them to participate in the academic discussions of the Consortium.

The proposal must not exceed 7 single-spaced pages and must conform to the layout as identified in the word template (69KB) provided. The 7 pages must include all text, figures, tables, and appendices, but exclude the cover page, abstract, keywords, and references. Please note that the length restriction is strict. Submissions must be received by email to by 17th September 2012 in order to be considered. Submissions must include the following:

  1. The candidate's full name, affiliation (university and school/department), mailing and e-mail addresses, telephone and fax numbers. The candidate should also indicate the name(s) of his or her principal faculty supervisors.
  2. A 3,000 word document (excluding the cover page and references) outlining the research topic, research question(s), key background literature, theoretical foundations, proposed methodology, current stage of the research, and plans for completion.
    NB: The length restriction is rigid; documents exceeding 3,000 words will not be considered.
  3. A letter of recommendation (on letter head) from the student's PhD supervisor or Head of School or equivalent, supporting the student's nomination for the Consortium.
